Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
- 1 can (13.4 oz) Dulce de leche
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
Instructions
-
First, separate egg whites from egg yolks.
-
In the bowl of a stand mixer, whisk the egg whites until medium peaks form (start on low speed then increase the speed to medium). Set aside.
-
In a bowl, put the egg yolks, salt, butter and Dulce de leche.
-
Whisk everything well.
-
Add all purpose flour, Almond flour and baking powder.
-
Mix everything well until smooth.
-
Gently fold in the egg whites to the batter.
-
Pour the batter in a greased pan. I have used a 7 inch round springform pan.
-
Bake in 340°F preheated oven for about 50 minutes (to 1 hour).
-
Let cool before cutting.
Recipe Notes
- If you use a larger baking pan, the baking time will be less.
- You can dust the cake with powdered sugar if you like.
- Don’t prick the center of the cake with a knife to check if it is cooked especially if you see that it is still jiggly. This will deflate the cake in the center, that was my mistake!
- I flipped the cake over but you don’t have to flip it over.
